In 1998, Deon started his officiating career in the South Bay High School unit. He worked his first Women's community college basketball game in 1999. Presently, he works Division I in the Big West, Mountain West, WAC, WCC and Division II in the CCAA and PacWest. In addition, he works in the SCIAC (Division III) and in the GSAC (NAIA). His postseason highlights include: 2013, 2015 and 2016 Division II CCAA Conference Tournament Final, 2015 NCAA Division II Western Regional Quarterfinal, and the 2016 NCAA Division II Western Regional Final.
Within the basketball community, Deon works off the court as well. He observes at many summer camps, and mentors young basketball officials.
Deon is the founder of Traintoref, a referee specific training program designed to improve performance on the court and reduce the chance of injury. Deon is a Personal Trainer and holds certifications specializing in: Functional Training, Core Training, Sports Injury, and Speed Agility and Quickness. Deon resides in Los Angeles, California.
Since joining the San Gabriel Valley Unit in 2004, Esther has experienced an exceptional rise in officiating. She officiated her first community college game in 2008, and currently officiates in the WCC, WAC, Big Sky, Big West, and Mountain West Conferences, Division II – CCAA and PacWest conferences, and several small college conferences. Her significant postseason highlights include: 2016 WNIT – 3rd Round, NCAA Division II – 2015 and 2016 West Regional Tournament, 2015 and 2016 CCAA Conference Tournament Final, 2014 ‐ 2016 PacWest Conference Tournament official, 2014 SCIAC Final, and was selected to work the Community College State Finals in 2013 and 2014. She has also worked a C.I.F. State Final in 2011.
In addition to the on‐court experience, Esther spends time mentoring young basketball officials. She lives in Temple City, and still serves as an instructor for the San Gabriel Valley Unit.
